City tour of Aurangabad
Morning enjoy the city sightseeing of Aurangabad situated in a hilly upland region on the Kaum River. Visit the Pani Chakki, a late 17th-century watermill that displays the engineering skills of Malik Ambar, the architect of Aurangabad City. It is surrounded by a picturesque garden-landscape dotted with fish tanks. The Bibi-ka-maqbara was built by Aurangzeb’s son as a tribute to his mother, Begum Rabia-ud-Durani. It is a replica of the Taj Mahal and stands out as the only example of Mogul architecture. Aurangabad is also known for its artistic silk fabrics, particularly shawls.
Excursion to Ellora caves and visit to Daulatabad fort
In the morning head out to Ellora Caves. Impressive is the rock-hewn temples and monasteries of Ellora that lie just 30 km away from Aurangabad City and are, a UNESCO world heritage site, celebrated for its Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples and monuments which were carved from the local cliff rock in the 6th to 8th century CE. The most spectacular example is the 8th century CE Kailasa temple standing at 32 meters high, is the largest rock-cut monument in the world. In all, composed of volcanic Basalt rock, there are 35 caves and rock-cut produced during the reign of the Kalachuri dynasty in the 6th and 7th centuries CE. Later Process to visit Daulatabad Fort, a labyrinthine structure that was once covered in Persian tiles.
